Dr. Peng Xiaodong
The exact cause of osteosarcoma is currently unclear, but it is generally believed to result from an interaction between internal and external factors. Internal factors primarily involve genetics—individuals with a family history of osteosarcoma may carry gene mutations leading to chromosomal abnormalities, which can result in the development of osteosarcoma. External factors are often related to environmental influences, such as trauma, viral infections, and ionizing radiation. In some cases, osteosarcoma arises from benign bone tumors that have recurred repeatedly; repeated tumor episodes may induce malignant transformation of local cells.
