What causes itchy teeth?

Itchy teeth may be caused by teething or new teeth erupting in infants and young children, which is generally considered a normal physiological phenomenon. However, if improper brushing leads to wedge-shaped defects, or frequent teeth grinding and exposure to acidic substances cause tooth erosion, the dentin may become exposed and result in itchy teeth. Additionally, poor oral hygiene that allows significant buildup of dental plaque or tartar on the tooth surface can promote bacterial growth and lead to gingivitis, which may also cause teeth to feel itchy.
