These past couple of days, I've noticed that my child's under-eye area is slightly red, but he doesn't seem uncomfortable. What could be causing a child's under-eye area to appear red?

A child's red lower eyelid may result from sleeping in a prone position, causing pressure or irritation to the eye area, or it could be due to insect bites in that region. If proper care is not taken and the eye suffers trauma leading to breaks or bruising, it commonly causes redness and swelling of the lower eyelid. Additionally, infections caused by mycoplasma, bacteria, or viruses—such as conjunctivitis or hordeolum—can also lead to redness in the lower eyelid.
