Dr. Chen Qirui
Pleural thickening may result from inflammatory pleural lesions, leading to fibrin deposition or fibrous tissue proliferation, thereby causing thickening of the pleura. If there is no compression on the patient's lung tissue, special treatment is generally not required and regular follow-up examinations are sufficient. It could also be caused by tumors, in which case patients typically present symptoms such as dyspnea, chest pain, and pleural effusion. Surgical removal of the cancerous tissue is usually necessary.
