What does it mean when direct bilirubin is low?
Disease description:
Yesterday I went to the hospital for a full-body checkup. The results showed low direct bilirubin. What does low direct bilirubin mean?
Low direct bilirubin may be caused by iron deficiency anemia. Additionally, insufficient intake of protein-rich foods in daily diet may also lead to low direct bilirubin. If it is due to iron deficiency anemia, one can consume animal livers regularly. If it results from inadequate protein intake, increasing consumption of protein-rich foods such as eggs and legumes is recommended.
