What causes redness of the nasal bridge after Gore-Tex rhinoplasty?
Disease description:
I had a car accident recently, which caused a nasal bone fracture with slight collapse. I underwent porous polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) rhinoplasty. What causes redness on the nasal bridge after ePTFE rhinoplasty?
Redness of the nasal bridge after expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) rhinoplasty may be caused by an implant that is too long, excessive pressure from the lower end of the implant leading to irritation and itching at the nasal tip, or thin subcutaneous tissue in the nasal area resulting in insufficient depth during the creation of the nasal pocket. Additionally, if proper postoperative care is not followed, localized or generalized infection can also lead to redness of the nasal bridge. Patients experiencing redness after ePTFE rhinoplasty should seek medical attention promptly and actively cooperate with their doctor for appropriate treatment.
