Causes of scar hypertrophy after eye corner incision surgery
Disease description:
I had an eye corner surgery recently, and during my follow-up visit today, I found that there was scar hyperplasia. What causes scar overgrowth after eye corner surgery?
Scar hypertrophy after eye corner surgery may be a normal reaction following scar formation and healing from the procedure. It could also occur in individuals with a predisposing scar-prone constitution, where incomplete recovery after surgery leads to scar overgrowth. If proper postoperative care is not followed—such as frequently touching or washing the wound with hands, causing local infection—scar hypertrophy commonly results.
