Under what circumstances is epicanthoplasty not necessary
Disease description:
This morning I went to the hospital to consult with the doctor about having canthoplasty. The doctor said I don't need it. So under what circumstances is canthoplasty not necessary?
In general, if a patient's epicanthal fold is not particularly severe, there is no need for epicanthoplasty (inner corner eye opening). Epicanthoplasty mainly involves repositioning the epicanthal fold inward, thereby exposing more of the eye and enhancing the overall eye shape. If a patient's eyes are relatively long with good scleral show and the epicanthal fold is not severe, epicanthoplasty is usually unnecessary.
