Silicone breast implants generally last 8 to 12 years, or even longer. If patients properly follow postoperative care instructions after silicone breast augmentation, the results may last up to 12 years or more. However, if patients have poor overall health and do not pay attention to postoperative care, the implants may only last about 8 years.
