Side effects of long-term use of botulinum toxin for wrinkle reduction
Disease description:
Over the past two years, I've noticed an increasing number of wrinkles on my face. Friends around me have suggested Botox injections, but I've heard that long-term use may cause side effects. What are the potential side effects of long-term Botox injections for wrinkle reduction?
Injecting botulinum toxin can block the connection between motor nerves and muscles, causing the muscles to relax and atrophy, thereby achieving wrinkle removal. However, long-term injections are not recommended. Prolonged use of botulinum toxin may lead to resistance in patients, resulting in reduced effectiveness upon subsequent injections. In some individuals who have used it long-term, localized muscle atrophy may occur.
