Can periodontitis of wisdom teeth trigger otolith disease (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo)?
Disease description:
I have periodontitis of a wisdom tooth, and my tooth has been painful with swollen gums over the past couple of days. However, this afternoon I suddenly felt dizzy, and after going to the hospital, I was diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), commonly known as ear stone syndrome. Can periodontitis of a wisdom tooth trigger BPPV?
Periodontitis of wisdom teeth generally does not trigger otolith disease (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). After the onset of wisdom tooth periodontitis, symptoms typically include gum swelling and pain. If the pain is severe, the inflammation may spread upward and cause ear pain. However, it usually does not lead to otolith disease. The occurrence of otolith disease may be due to a strong head impact in the patient.
