It usually takes one to two weeks for symptoms of periodontitis to subside after dental cleaning. If the patient's periodontitis is not particularly severe, ultrasonic scaling to remove tartar and plaque from the teeth can reduce irritation to the gums and help alleviate symptoms, with improvement typically seen within one to two weeks. However, for patients with severe periodontitis, in addition to scaling, periodontal surgery may also be required, and it may take one to two months for noticeable improvement.
