Is leukocytosis the same as chronic myeloid leukemia?
Disease description:
My sister was found to have elevated white blood cells during a checkup, and she has recently developed a fever. I'm worried this might be caused by chronic myeloid leukemia. Does increased white blood cell count necessarily mean chronic myeloid leukemia?
Leukocytosis is not necessarily chronic myeloid leukemia; it could be caused by bacterial inflammatory infection or myeloproliferative disorders. If white blood cell counts increase tenfold, it may indicate a hematological disease. Patients are advised to promptly visit a hematology specialist for evaluation. After a definitive diagnosis is established through appropriate tests, targeted treatment should be initiated.
