Menstrual delay without pregnancy may be caused by excessive work or study pressure, mental stress, and similar factors. In general, menstruation will resume as mood and emotional state improve. If you have recently taken hormonal medications or long-acting contraceptives and suddenly stopped, this could also lead to delayed menstruation. Additionally, endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hyperprolactinemia, or abnormal thyroid function can also cause menstrual delay.
