Itchy vulva worse at night: causes and what to do
Disease description:
The vulvar itching has been particularly severe recently, especially at night. What can be done about worsening vulvar itching at night?
Itching of the vulva that worsens at night may be caused by an allergy to underwear fabric, sanitary pads, or similar materials. It is recommended to choose cotton sanitary pads and underwear, take antiallergic medications as prescribed—such as loratadine or cetirizine—and maintain proper cleaning of the vulva. If the cause is bacterial vaginitis, follow medical advice to use medications like metronidazole or cefixime. In cases where lichen of the vulva is the cause, treatment may include triamcinolone acetonide or sedatives as directed by a physician.
