There is always a sore and painful sensation at the Fengchi acupoint, along with a feeling of distension and pain at the top of the head. What causes soreness at the Fengchi point and distending pain on the top of the head?

Soreness at the Fengchi acupoint and a feeling of pressure or pain at the top of the head are caused by conditions such as migraines or bone spurs. Pain at the Fengchi point primarily results from invasion of wind-cold pathogens affecting the head and neck region, or from overexertion leading to damage of soft tissues in the neck. Other causes include cervical osteophyte formation (bone spurs), cervical disc herniation, and straightening of the normal cervical spinal curvature. Since the Fengchi acupoint is connected to the semispinalis muscles, injury to these muscles can lead to pain at the Fengchi point.
