What could be the reason for a 13-year-old boy having persistent nosebleeds?
Disease description:
My child has been having frequent nosebleeds lately, and I'm really worried that it might be caused by some illness. I'd like to know what could be the reason for a 13-year-old boy having persistent nosebleeds?
Nosebleeds in 13-year-old boys are usually caused by frequent nose picking, which damages the nasal mucosa and leads to bleeding. In some patients, dryness of the nasal cavity or inflammatory reactions in the nose and sinuses may also be responsible. Other cases can be due to hemorrhagic nasal polyps or nasal hemangiomas. Some patients may have nasopharyngeal fibrovascular tumors. Very rarely, nosebleeds are caused by nasal or sinus cancer.
