What does it mean when a baby is in shock and sleepy?
Disease description:
The baby recently experienced a shock episode, and after regaining consciousness, he has been excessively sleepy. Could you please explain why the baby is drowsy following the shock?
The baby's shock and lethargy may be due to decreased activity during autumn and winter. If the patient shows significant drowsiness during fever, along with symptoms such as rising temperature, nervous system depression, poor mental status, and lethargy, these symptoms usually resolve immediately after fever subsides, and no special treatment is required. However, if the child remains lethargic despite having a normal body temperature, it could indicate encephalitis or another severe infectious disease, and a complete blood count should be performed on the child.
