25-hydroxyvitamin D3 is a test used to measure vitamin D levels in the body, with normal values typically ranging from 30 to 100. A level below 30 indicates deficiency. Improving vitamin D status can enhance mood, strengthen bones and muscles, and boost immunity. Vitamin D deficiency may lead to rickets, tetany, anemia, skeletal deformities, pneumonia, growth retardation, pediatric diabetes, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
