What does the papular stage of rosacea look like?
Disease description:
During the rhinophyma stage, does having pustules on the nose usually mean they persist continuously or appear in clusters that are difficult to reduce in size? What does the papular stage of rosacea (acne rosacea) look like?
During the papular stage of rosacea, relatively large patches of erythema typically appear on the nose, accompanied by acne-like breakouts, follicular pustules, and recurring pustules. When the condition penetrates deeper into the skin, cysts form and inflammatory nodules develop within deeper layers of the skin. In some cases, these lesions may become granulomatous. As they progressively enlarge, swelling may occur on the nose and around the cheeks and mouth. Some patients may also experience concurrent inflammation of the eyelids.
