Is there a difference between vocal cord polyps and vocal nodules?
Disease description:
I've been coughing constantly. After visiting the outpatient clinic at the hospital, the doctor told me that I have a polyp on my vocal cord. I'd like to know whether there's a difference between a vocal cord polyp and a vocal cord nodule.
Vocal cord polyps and vocal nodules generally differ in terms of their location, underlying causes, and specific symptoms. In addition, due to voice misuse, many long-term voice users—such as teachers and singers—are prone to developing these conditions. Vocal cord polyps are benign growths on the surface of the vocal cords and are considered a form of endocrine-related benign tumor; they are also a typical manifestation of chronic laryngitis. The primary clinical symptom of vocal cord polyps is hoarseness, and the main treatment approach is surgical removal.
