Disease description:

A few years ago, when I went to the hospital for a checkup, the doctor told me that my vocal cord polyp was quite severe. I'm very worried it might turn into laryngeal cancer. Can vocal cord polyps and laryngeal cancer occur at the same time?

Vocal cord polyps and laryngeal cancer generally do not coexist. Vocal cord polyps are typical benign lesions of the vocal cords and are unrelated to laryngeal cancer. However, in some patients, vocal cord polyps may undergo keratinization, and over time, there could be a risk of malignant transformation. After surgery, patients need regular follow-up examinations to monitor for any concurrent conditions. Following treatment, patients should avoid overusing their voice and refrain from consuming spicy or irritating foods.
