Fungal infection of the external auditory canal is contagious. Fungal otitis externa presents with symptoms such as congestion, swelling, moisture, and severe itching in the external ear canal, which can be unbearable. Patients should clean ear secretions thoroughly using normal saline and apply antifungal ear drops. Additionally, patients should maintain a light diet and avoid spicy foods. They should also refrain from forcefully scratching inside the ears during daily activities.
