What causes yellow-green vaginal discharge?
Disease description:
Recently I've noticed the white discharge has turned yellowish-green. It was previously white, and I'm a bit worried. I'd like to know what might be causing this?
Yellowish-green vaginal discharge, especially when accompanied by a change in color, is often a sign of bacterial vaginosis. In daily life, poor hygiene practices—such as inadequate cleaning of the external genital area or unhygienic sexual behaviors—can promote bacterial growth and lead to infection. Trichomoniasis, caused by infection with the parasite *Trichomonas vaginalis*, may also result in yellowish-green discharge. When this infection occurs, symptoms may include not only changes in discharge color but also itching of the vulva, stronger unpleasant odor, and increased volume of vaginal discharge. These symptoms can significantly affect a woman's daily life and may cause pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse, severely impacting both physical and mental well-being. If abnormal vaginal discharge is noticed, it is important to seek medical attention promptly and consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.
