What causes a fleshy lump to grow at the vaginal opening?
Disease description:
I noticed a fleshy lump at my vaginal opening while showering tonight. I'd like to know what could cause a fleshy lump to appear at the vaginal opening.
A lump appearing at the vulvar opening may be a benign skin growth, such as a sebaceous cyst or lipoma, which typically grows slowly and is painless or asymptomatic. It could also be an infectious lesion, such as genital warts, a sexually transmitted infection caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), commonly presenting as small, soft, red or flesh-colored bumps. The lump might also be a Bartholin's cyst, which forms due to blockage of the Bartholin's gland duct and subsequent accumulation of secretions. Of course, malignant tumors, such as vulvar cancer, cannot be entirely ruled out. If a lump is found at the vulvar opening, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for professional evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate treatment.
