Recently, I noticed that the color of my vaginal discharge has changed to yellow-green, whereas it was previously white. My doctor diagnosed me with trichomonal vaginitis. I had never heard of this condition before and would like to know what symptoms it causes.

Trichomonal vaginitis is a common gynecological condition. Patients often experience significant itching in the external genital area, which may persist continuously and cause considerable discomfort. At the same time, vaginal discharge increases markedly, typically appearing bright yellow-green and sometimes having a frothy appearance, due to the inflammatory response caused by trichomonas infection. In more severe cases, some patients may develop ulceration of the vaginal mucosa, leading to pinkish discharge resulting from minor bleeding mixed with secretions. Patients need not be overly concerned about trichomonal vaginitis. Under medical guidance, it can be effectively treated with antibiotic medications such as metronidazole or tinidazole, which inhibit the growth of trichomonas, alleviate inflammation, and help restore health.
