Which department should adults visit for bone age assessment?
Disease description:
I'm 21 years old and relatively short. I'd like to get a bone age assessment to see if I can still grow taller. Which department should I visit for a bone age test as an adult?
Adults can generally make an appointment with the orthopedic department to assess bone age. Bone age evaluation primarily involves taking X-ray images of the patient's wrist and knee joints, then combining the findings with the patient's chronological age and assessing whether the epiphyseal growth plates have fully closed, in order to determine if there is still potential for height increase. If the examination results indicate a possibility of further growth, hormonal indicators should also be analyzed accordingly.
