Can paederus dermatitis resolve spontaneously?

Jun 16, 2021 Source: Cainiu Health
Disease description:

A couple of days ago, my father was in the village and accidentally crushed a blister beetle. Now his entire hand has developed dermatitis. I’d like to ask whether this condition can heal on its own without medication.

Hello, If the symptoms of paederus dermatitis are mild, spontaneous resolution is possible. For more severe cases, you may consult a physician and apply topical corticosteroid ointment as directed. If erosion or marked erythema and swelling occur, cold, wet compresses with potassium permanganate solution may help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. In case of secondary infection, anti-infective therapy—under the guidance of a physician—is typically required. We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
