The typical sign that boys have stopped developing is the closure of the growth plates (epiphyseal lines). An X-ray at a hospital can confirm whether the epiphyseal plates have fused; if so, it usually indicates that the boy has stopped growing in height. Additionally, the development of prominent Adam's apple, thick and dense facial hair, and underarm hair are signs of completed secondary sexual characteristics, which also indicate the end of growth and development.
