What causes elevated blood counts?
Disease description:
I am 28 years old. During a routine health checkup at work this August, my complete blood count showed elevated blood indices. I haven't felt any discomfort. Today, I went to the hospital and my blood cell count was 11,300. What could be the reason for this elevated blood count?
The causes of elevated blood counts can be divided into physiological and pathological factors. Physiological factors include pregnancy, intense physical exercise, and exposure to excessively high or low environmental temperatures, all of which can lead to an increase in white blood cells. Once these factors are removed, blood counts typically return to normal spontaneously. Pathological factors mainly include infections, severe tissue injury, and leukemia. Therefore, patients may exhibit elevated blood counts; in leukemia patients, bone marrow hematopoiesis is highly active, resulting in a markedly increased white blood cell count on routine blood tests.
