What are the routine blood test findings in leukemia?
Disease description:
Yesterday during my physical exam, I had a complete blood count (CBC), and the doctor told me I have leukemia. What are the typical CBC findings in leukemia?
A complete blood count in leukemia patients often shows abnormalities in white blood cell count and differential. The white blood cell count may be either elevated or decreased, along with abnormal proportions of lymphocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, and monocytes. On the other hand, red blood cell and platelet counts may be reduced. It is recommended to maintain a balanced diet and actively pursue treatment to prevent complications.
