How did I get pink eye if I haven't been anywhere?
Disease description:
My eyes don't hurt or itch, but they feel a bit sore when I look sideways. The doctor diagnosed it as red eye disease. I haven't been anywhere—how did I get this?
Red eye disease is generally caused by viral infection, although it can also be triggered by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. Contact with these bacteria easily leads to red eye disease. Many people have close contact with infected individuals, which increases the risk of transmission. Red eye patients often rub their eyes with their hands, causing bacteria to accumulate on their hands. Any object touched by the patient may also carry these bacteria. If a healthy person touches these contaminated items and then touches their eyes, they may become infected. Having a large amount of bacteria on the hands can worsen the condition. In terms of diet, it is advisable to avoid spicy and irritating foods; instead, opt for light, nutritious meals.
