Dr. Chen You
Dacryoadenitis is usually related to immune function. It may result from secondary bacterial infection due to decreased immunity, commonly seen in patients with colds, mumps, or measles. Symptoms may include swelling of the lacrimal gland, pus discharge, palpable local mass, and involvement of regional lymph nodes in the eyelid, cheek, or temporal area. It can occur unilaterally or bilaterally. Anti-inflammatory treatment is effective; local heat application and physical therapy may serve as adjunctive treatments, and surgery may be necessary in some cases. Patients are advised to receive treatment from an ophthalmologist and maintain proper care.
