This condition generally refers to calcium salt deposition within the prostate gland, primarily caused by chemical reactions or inflammatory stimulation inside the prostate tissue. It is usually recommended to undergo a prostate color ultrasound or a prostate CT scan for definitive diagnosis. On prostate CT, it typically appears as an area of increased density. On prostate ultrasound, it usually presents as strong echogenicity with posterior acoustic shadowing. Isolated prostate calcification is typically asymptomatic and therefore does not require treatment.
