Yin deficiency with hyperactivity of fire is a pathological condition in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) caused by insufficient yin fluids, leading to excessive relative heat (deficiency fire). This condition is characterized by inadequate yin, which fails to restrain yang, resulting in a state of false heat due to excess yang. Common symptoms include, but are not limited to, irritability, insomnia, dry mouth and throat, night sweats, nocturnal emissions, increased libido, flushed cheeks, short and dark urine, and dry stools. Additionally, yin deficiency with hyperactive fire often causes constipation, which may lead to oral ulcers. If the body develops "heatiness" due to inadequate rest, yin deficiency with hyperactive fire can exacerbate constipation and increase the risk of developing oral ulcers. Imbalance between yin and yang can significantly harm the body. It is important to develop healthy habits such as going to bed early and rising early, exercising regularly, eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding spicy and greasy foods. Only by maintaining a balance of yin and yang and ensuring smooth flow of qi and blood can one reduce the likelihood of illness.
