What is the right occiput anterior fetal position?
Disease description:
During a prenatal checkup while pregnant, the doctor said the current fetal position is right occiput anterior (ROA). What does ROA position mean?
Right occiput anterior (ROA) position generally refers to the fetal occiput being located to the right and slightly forward in relation to the mother's pelvis. Fetal presentation describes the specific position of the presenting part of the fetus in relation to the anterior, posterior, left, and right quadrants of the maternal pelvis. The fetal position is directly related to whether the mother can deliver vaginally without complications. The most common and favorable position is the occiput anterior position. Abnormal fetal positions, such as breech or transverse lie, may lead to obstructed labor.
