Swollen and numb fingers upon waking from sleep may be caused by finger compression, neuritis, or other reasons. If one maintains a side-lying position for an extended period during sleep, especially putting pressure on the fingers, it may impair blood circulation in the fingers, leading to swelling and numbness. Infections, autoimmune diseases, and similar factors may cause neuritis; if the condition affects the fingers, it could result in swollen finger joints, as well as numbness and reduced sensation. If symptoms persist without improvement, prompt medical evaluation and treatment are recommended.
