What type of poisoning causes hyperventilation?
Disease description:
Shortness of breath, slight chest tightness; examination revealed hyperventilation. What kind of poisoning does hyperventilation indicate?
Hyperventilation leads to respiratory alkalosis. Respiratory alkalosis is caused by various factors, such as excessively high respiratory rate or excessive elimination of carbon dioxide from the body. Clinically, it mainly presents with dyspnea, chest tightness, tachycardia, numbness in the limbs, tetany, and muscle spasms. Acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma can also cause hyperventilation; in such cases, active anti-asthmatic treatment is recommended, such as inhalation of salbutamol sulfate aerosol, to control the condition and prevent complications like respiratory failure.
