Disease description:
I accidentally ingested a small amount of mercury yesterday, and had no symptoms afterward. This morning, I woke up with nosebleeds. Can mercury poisoning cause nosebleeds? What should I do?
Mercury poisoning generally does not cause nosebleeds. Main symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, and in severe cases, seizures or coma may occur. If a patient experiences nosebleeds, they should promptly go to the hospital for further examination, as nosebleeds are usually caused by factors such as nasal mucosal lesions, nasal polyps, or dry air. Recurrent nosebleeds are typically due to dryness and damage of the nasal mucosa or fragile blood vessels in the nasal lining.
