Hamstring pain is caused by factors such as muscle strain and lumbar disc herniation. The main causes are acute injuries or chronic overuse affecting the muscles, ligaments, and fascia on the posterior side of the lower limbs. This commonly occurs during intense exercise or high-intensity physical labor involving the lower limbs, leading to corresponding overuse injuries in the posterior leg muscle groups. Lumbar disc herniation causes pain along the distribution area of the sciatic nerve due to compression of the sciatic nerve by the protruding intervertebral disc.
