Dr. Guan Yanlei
Radial nerve injury due to humeral fracture can be managed through lifestyle adjustments and exercises. When lying down, a soft pillow should be placed under the affected limb to reduce pressure on its posterior side, thereby promoting venous return and reducing swelling. When the patient is upright or sitting, the affected limb should be suspended at chest level, which helps enhance venous return, reduce edema, prevent limb drooping, avoid strain on the fracture site, and thus support proper fracture healing. In cases of conservative treatment, it is essential to regularly check the tightness of casts or splints and make appropriate adjustments if loosening occurs. If swelling worsens and tension blisters develop, the cast or splint must be immediately removed.
