How to treat venous thrombosis in the lower leg
Disease description:
For unknown reasons, the blood vessels in my lower leg have become swollen. After a hospital examination, I was diagnosed with venous thrombosis. How should lower leg venous thrombosis be treated?
Treatment for calf venous thrombosis typically involves medication and conservative management. Common approaches include elevating the limbs to the level of the heart. It is important to ensure adequate sleep and maintain regular bowel movements, avoiding straining during defecation. For severe lower extremity venous thrombosis, analgesics may be prescribed. In cases of extensive thrombosis, anticoagulation therapy such as low-molecular-weight heparin may be used.
