Common peroneal nerve injury is caused by fibular fractures, compressive trauma, or other reasons. Due to its superficial anatomical location, the common peroneal nerve is frequently damaged following fractures of the fibular neck. Severe swelling or other space-occupying lesions in soft tissues such as the peroneal tendons and biceps femoris tendon may also injure the common peroneal nerve.
