What causes an enlarged fetal biparietal diameter?
Disease description:
During the examination, it was found that the fetal biparietal diameter was larger than normal. This condition had not been observed before. What causes an increased fetal biparietal diameter?
Fetal biparietal diameter enlargement may be caused by excessive nutrition or abnormal fetal brain development. It can occur when a pregnant woman has excessive nutritional intake during pregnancy, or suffers from gestational diabetes. If blood glucose levels remain elevated throughout pregnancy, the fetal biparietal diameter tends to increase. In addition, if fetal brain development is abnormal, conditions such as hydrocephalus or cranial dysplasia may also occur.
