Unmarried women can also develop cervical cancer. Single women have a relatively lower risk of developing cervical cancer, which typically occurs due to infection with the HPV virus during sexual intercourse. Prolonged exposure to the virus may eventually lead to cervical cancer. However, unmarried women who engage in sexual activity or have poor lifestyle habits may still become infected with HPV, although the probability is somewhat lower.
