A friend's fetal monitoring results were abnormal. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this might indicate cerebral palsy. Can abnormal fetal monitoring results mean the baby has cerebral palsy?

Abnormal fetal monitoring may be associated with cerebral palsy. Irregular fetal heart rhythm or abnormal heart rate (too fast or too slow) are common causes of failed fetal monitoring. Various factors can lead to changes in heart rate, such as asphyxia and turbid amniotic fluid. It could also be due to congenital developmental issues, such as brain malformations or congenital heart defects. These congenital abnormalities cannot be effectively treated during pregnancy and may result in fetal cerebral hypoxia, leading to cerebral palsy in the newborn.
