Giving birth at 38 weeks of pregnancy is not considered preterm. The organs of a full-term infant are relatively well-developed, resulting in a higher survival rate after birth. Delivery refers to the entire process from 28 weeks of gestation onward, during which the fetus and associated tissues are expelled completely from the mother's body. Preterm birth refers to delivery occurring at or after 28 weeks but before 37 weeks of gestation. Since preterm infants often have underdeveloped organs, the earlier the gestational age and the lower the birth weight, the poorer the prognosis and the lower the survival rate.
