What causes one side of the face to be larger than the other?

I've been spending a lot of time online recently and often rest my chin on my left hand. Now my left face appears slightly larger. What could be the reason for this asymmetry?

If the left side of the face is larger than the right side at birth, it is considered congenital facial asymmetry, which is mostly caused by skeletal deformities. If the asymmetry develops later in life due to trauma, swelling, or other injuries, the larger left side represents an abnormal condition, which usually gradually returns to symmetry after 1–2 months of recovery.
