What are the symptoms of post-stroke sequelae?
Disease description:
A family member has suffered a stroke. I would like to know what symptoms are associated with the aftereffects of stroke?
The symptoms of post-stroke sequelae are diverse and depend on the location and size of the lesion during the initial stroke. In cases of large-area cerebral infarction or extensive intracerebral hemorrhage, patients may develop consciousness disturbances, including confusion, coma, decorticate state, and vegetative state. If the lesion affects the basal ganglia or corona radiata, patients may experience hemiplegia, hemianopia, and mild hemiparesis. When the cerebellum is involved, symptoms may include dizziness, balance disorders, and scanning speech.
