Dr. Guan Yanlei
JE can directly inhibit the patient's respiratory center, leading to coma and respiratory depression, resulting in shallow and slow breathing, and in some cases, even respiratory arrest. JE may cause a series of neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients, including neurological disorders such as paresis, hemiplegia, and limb or combined motor dysfunction. Therefore, JE can lead to central respiratory failure; such patients require mechanical ventilation support alongside aggressive antiviral treatment.
